About me

I'm Gemma and I'm 49 years old. I'm a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor, specialising in helping women transition through Peri to Post Menopause.

My health and fitness career began in 2000 when I gained my BSc (Honours) in Exercise Science and helped hundreds of ladies with their fitness goals at a ladies only gym. Back in 2019 I updated my qualifications to become a level 3 Personal Trainer and then onto update my skills as a Pilates Instructor in 2020.

As a woman in her forties and entering perimenopause myself, I decided to qualify as a menopause specialist coach so I could help as many women as I could who were also struggling with the various symptoms peri to postmenopause throws at us.

Why did i become a Menopause coach?

As a woman in her forties and entering perimenopause myself, I decided to qualify as a menopause specialist coach so I could help as many women as I could who were also struggling with the various symptoms peri to postmenopause throws at us.

I found as I entered my early forties my waistline started to expand despite the amount of exercise I was doing. The weight was piling on and I felt pretty disgusted with my body. I was fascinated by bikini bodybuilders and their fantastically lean but sexy shape and wanted to look like that too. That fascination got me into body building myself.

I gave up the hours of cardio and focused on lifting heavy and eating the right amount of calories and macro split for my goals.

I then decided to set myself the biggest and scariest challenge I could think of and entered a bikini bodybuilding competition myself, coming third in my category of Bikini Masters

My competitions

Since my competitions in 2019 I've done several photoshoots (lots of fun) and gone onto help many, many more women change their bodies and achieve healthier and fitter lifestyles.

I launched G.E.M. Health in 2020 as I want to get as many people fitter, healthier and happier. In fact G.E.M. stands for Get Everyone Moving. I have a lot of clients approach me with injuries, back, posture and core issues and have helped them dramatically by initially just getting them moving in a better way.

Not all my clients' goals are about weight loss, some are literally just wanting to feel fitter and stronger, to stand a little taller or to feel good about themselves again. I've had a lot of clients come to me initially terrified and out of their comfort zone and it's the best feeling in the world seeing them grow and build their confidence and educate them on achieving their goals.

If you're unsure, nervous, not sure where to start or just at a loss, please contact me and let me help you on your journey to feeling great again.
